Before starting to Root Xiaomi Mi A1 with MiA1 All In One Tool, let’s know something about the Xiaomi Mi A1. It is a re-branded Xiaomi Mi 5X phone, co-developed by Google as its Android One initiative and Xiaomi that runs on the Android (operating system). The Xiaomi Mi A1 was unveiled on September 5, 2017, and it is available in all of Xiaomi’s current markets, with the exception of the People’s Republic of China


Mi A1 comes with a 5.5″ touchscreen display with Full HD 1080p resolution, powered by a 3080 mAh battery. It measures 155.40 x 75.80 x 7.30 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 168.00 grams. The phone is powered by an 2.0 GHz Octa-core QualcommSnapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU and comes with 4GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 64GB and unique for the series, microSD card slot supporting up to 128 GB cards. The rear camera on the Mi A1 is 12 + 12 megapixel shooter with autofocus and 2x optical lossless zoom, it is capable of recording 4K videos, the phone also has a 5-megapixel front camera. Sensors on the phone include compass magnetometer, proximity sensor, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyroscope.


The Xiaomi Mi A1 ships with Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It will receive two years of minimum OS upgrades with confirmed upgrades to Android Oreo and Android P.

 Root Xiaomi Mi A1 with MiA1 All In One Tool

The process is very simple and all it takes a few minutes to root Xiaomi Mi A1 phone. All you have to download one tool on your Windows PC and that will help you setup the ADB drivers on your Windows PC, Unlock the Bootloader of the Mi A1 and root Mi A1. This guide is only for the Mi A1 users and don’t follow this method on any other Xiaomi phone. And yes, your personal data might be lost. So do take the full backup of your phone.

How to Root Xiaomi Mi A1

Read all the steps very carefully and follow all of them one by one on your phone and on your Windows PC.

Make sure that your device is fully charged or has enough power for this process. Please back up your data and think twice before proceeding.

Prerequisite to Root Mi A1

  • Before following the tutorial do take the full backup of your phone.
  • Make sure that your phone has at least 50-60% charged.
  • Unlock the Bootloader of Mi A1

Downloading Root Files for Mi A1

  1. Download the Mi A1 Toolkit hereand extract the folder on your desktop.
  2. Then Download Patched boot.img. Before downloading the Patched boot.img, make sure to check the Android Security patch level on your phone.

Go to Settings > About Phone and check the Android Security patch level.

If your phone shows the August Patch then download the August Patched boot.img, If it shows the September then download the September Patched boot.img.

In our case, we are going to download the September Patched boot.img.

Open the Mi A1 tool folder and here you will see a folder called image. Open the image folder and paste the Patched boot.img in the folder.


Steps to Root Xiaomi Mi A1

  1. First Enable USB debugging mode, and OEM unlock your phone. To do this go to the phone settings. Go to System > About Phone and Tap on the Build Number 7 to 8 time. Now the Developer Option will enable on your phone.

Go back to the System > Developer option > and Enable USB debugging and OEM Unlock.

  1. Connect your smartphone to  your PC  via USB cable.
  2. Then open the Mi A1 tool folder and start running the AIO Tool file.
  3. Now a new screen will appear on your PC’s desktop.
  4. If you want to Unlock Bootloader then press 1. We already did that so we are going to root the Phone.

NOTE:- After flashing the September patch and Supersu if your phone stuck on the Boot screen. Then download the August Patch and Use the All in one tool to flash the same on your phone. No need to flash the Super SU again. And your phone will boot normally.
